GEAA - Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance

Sole Source of Drinking Water
For Millions of Us in Texas.

The Edwards Aquifer Ecosystem of Central Texas is one of our most valuable, irreplaceable and endangered public treasures. The EPA recognizes it as a "Sole Source" water supply. It is the only source of drinking water for millions of Texans.

It is our right and duty to preserve and protect the Aquifer, its contributing Hill Country watersheds, its great springs, and its native biodiversity for the benefit of all residents and all future generations. As individuals and community-based organizations, we invite everyone who shares the desire to preserve the Edwards Aquifer to join with us.

DAM IT! GEAA member groups ask BRWM to reconsider its proposed dam project for the historic Maverick Ranch-Fromme Farm

The Bexar Regional Watershed Management (BRWM) alliance of Bexar County, the San Antonio River Authority, and the City of San Antonio has proposed using eminent domain to build a flood control project on the Maverick Ranch-Fromme Farm property to help mitigate flooding from other dense area developments. AGUA and GEAA are asking the BRWM to reconsider this plan that would completely wipe out the historic ranch. At the very minimum, the BRWM should hold a public hearing regarding the project.
